CHRIS KEARNS
I built a new house on Windbluff Drive last year and moved in last fall. I am a recently retired custom home builder, who still does some building projects, from time to time. Having built over 100 houses in numerous south Charlotte communities over the last 30 years, I have dealt with most Architectural Review Committees at one time or another. This gives me a perspective that should be helpful to the committee.

My desire is to keep the integrity of the neighborhood, while also recognizing that we need to be flexible to the needs and desires of a younger generation. Having grown up in California, I have been around “California contemporary” architecture all my life. While I respect the uniqueness of the style, I feel we can maintain the necessary character of the community without being overly rigid in our interpretations of varied expression.

I always try to reach a win-win decision whenever possible. I believe people are striving to achieve a complimentary look within each neighborhood, while still meeting their individual needs. Both the ARC and those individuals seeking approvals ultimately have the same objective – to maximize the property values in the neighborhood.
